French Prime Minister: "Paris does not interfere in the affairs of Algeria"

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said in a television interview on Wednesday that Paris "is not indifferent" to the situation in Algeria, but does not interfere in its affairs, stressing that only Algerians are to make decisions about their future. French Foreign Minister Jean-Louis Laudrian told parliament earlier Wednesday that his country was closely following anti-government protests in Algeria.

France is not indifferent to the situation in Algeria but does not interfere in its internal affairs, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said in a television interview on Wednesday, hours after French Foreign Minister Ludriane said Paris was closely monitoring the April 18 presidential election, Next April.

"Algeria is a sovereign country, so it is only Algerians and Algerians who decide to make decisions about their future," Philippe said in an interview with the French daily BfM.
